D-Construction
Powerful Hip Hop at The Stade
State Saturdays are free for all and offer the chance to see fantastic entertainment from around the world. This Saturday, 16 June, Compagnie Dyptik presents D-Construction,who will give two performances – at 6pm and 8pm – of their challenging, alternative Hip Hop dance.

D-Construction in action
Six Hip-Hop dancers in search of a shared character… Metal scaffolding centre stage represents both a playground and a prison. It cages, protects and frees. Bodies and minds become a single force that may lead to liberation. D-Construction connects, inspires and destroys to create something new.
Created in Saint-Étienne in 2011 by Souhail Marchiche and Mehdi Meghari, the dance company, Dyptik, has been fusing the ideas behind the creation of contemporary choreography with the moves, culture and meaningful origins of Hip Hop for 5 years now.
In D-Construction, a piece for 6 dancers, the dance applies the street values of Hip Hop to the global realities of individuals, drawing its inspiration from the refusal of populations to fit into the artificial national and international boxes created for them.
Using the wall, the border, as a starting point, D-Construction interrogates the notion of barriers, and interrogates the spaces on either side to come up with positive approaches to the future.
Stade Saturdays take place at Stade Open Space, Rock-a-Nore Road, Hastings, TN34 3FJ. FREE! Fully accessible. Stade Saturdays are curated and produced by Hastings Borough Council.
