Catch her in Rye
What do Shostakovich, Debussy and Ravel have in common with Elbow? Lynne Page has put together an exquisite cast of performers for some specially produced dance theatre, entitled ‘Wingspan,’ to be held at Bridgepoint, the new creative arts complex in Rye, celebrating the tenacity of the human spirit in this extraordinary time. The music is an inspired combination of Shostakovich, Debussy, Ravel and Elbow, writes Chris Cormack.
Four members of the Royal Ballet will dance live in new pieces specially choreographed by Lynne Page and accompanied by Royal Opera House orchestra members, together with other top-class players from London’s West End.
These talented professionals will be joined by Gareth Mole and Julie Ann Minaai. Katie Brayben, Olivier award-winning star of he Carole King Musical and King Charles III in the West End, will also be performing.
Lynne has not only created new choreography for these exceptional artists, but also a live theatre experience which makes it fun, strange and just a little bit theatrical to conform with Covid-19 regulations.
The 130 person socially distanced audience are given super stylish transparent visors, and will be escorted to their seats by very entertaining physically-distancing wardens. It will be an intimate evening of exceptional quality in a safe and exciting new space.
The six person rule does not affect performances at Bridgepoint, a Covid secure venue, following the safety and hygiene measures set out by the government in its performing arts guidance.
