Beauty and the Beast – this year’s Christmas panto at the White Rock Theatre
This year’s Christmas family pantomime at The White Rock Theatre is Beauty and the Beast. When an arrogant Prince is cursed to live as a beast, his only hope of salvation is to find love before the last petal falls from a magic rose. When pretty village girl, Beauty, comes into his life, is this the chance he has been waiting for? HOT’s Paul Way-Rider takes a look behind the scenes.
X Factor stars Amelia Lily (The Enchantress) and Andy Abraham (Mr Crust) will lead the pantomime and appear alongside returning White Rock favourites Ben Watson (Billy Pastry) and Tim McArthur (Nanny Pastry).
After appearing on X Factor, Amelia’s debut single reached number two on the UK singles chart. She has also taken the leading role in many West End musicals and tours including playing Princess Fiona in the UK Tour of Shrek: The Musical.
Joining Amelia on stage will be Andy Abraham, who found fame on ITV’s X Factor where he finished runner-up. Andy went on to release several hit albums and represent the UK in the Eurovision Final in 2008. He has toured the UK a number of times, most recently with his tribute to the jazz and swing legend, Nat King Cole in Andy Abraham Presents: The Nat King Cole Songbook.
Andy adds, “I’ve been in a few pantos now and I just love it! You can expect, without doubt, some big tunes old and new and a proper family festive night out!”
Additional casting includes White Rock favourites Tim McArthur and Ben Watson, as well as seasoned performers Nathan Routledge, Jenny Perry and Richard Lock, along with a local junior dance ensemble.
Enjoy Christmas with this fun-filled, family-friendly fairy-tale which has all the ingredients for a truly memorable pantomime — hilarious slapstick, plenty of audience interaction, and marvellous musical numbers.
