Andy Wall Whores’ digital Factory…

For one day only on Monday 29 October there will be a digital audio-visual ‘Happening’ at Trinity Gallery in Hastings Town Centre. The ‘Andy Wall Whores’ event intends to create something new out of the spirit and legacy of Andy Warhol as a celebration of the 50th anniversary of Andy Warhol’s classic 32 Campbell’s Soup Cans.

During the afternoon the Gallery will be open and the public are invited to witness a live event as one of the artists is transformed into an image of Andy Warhol inspired by one of his  polaroids, and recorded in digital media.

At the “invite only” opening in the evening, the image from the daytime shoot, visible from the street, will be projected on the gallery wall. Using cutting-edge technology developed by In Focus hired from Showman AV, our guests will be able  to manipulate the image live with a wireless wand and print out their handywork. These will then be displayed on the Gallery walls to create a unique Warholian happening. The Andy Wall Whores aim to generate 32 Andy portraits – one for each tin of Campbell’s soup!

Each guest will have the opportunity to buy a high quality digital reproduction on Hahnemuhle paper.

Inky Linda: a collaborative image by Linda King and Adam PiggottThe artists who have come together to create this event are Linda King, Adam Piggott and Christopher Winter. Linda King and Adam Piggott are well known in Hastings for their photographic portait collaborations. Winter, is from Hastings, but now lives and works as an established artist in Berlin. It is an extraordinary collaboration, and Trinity Gallery prove again that they are open to supporting experimental art projects which aren’t confined to a mere two – or even three – dimensions!

By Christopher WinterWarhol was always looking for innovative ways to create his art, he can be seen for instance as the forefather of reality TV through his trashy movies shot spontaneously with his friends and entourage from The Factory. He was always excited by the “new”. The artists attempt to carry that spirit and push the boundaries with new technology. A website of the event and the images will also be created.

DJ Remi Vibesman  will be spinning a Studio 54 style set and the resident  disco ball will be spinning as well to create the special crossover atmosphere of fashion, art, photography and technology.

Artist Linda King said: ‘If Andy Warhol was around today and working now he would be using all the available technology such as tablets, smart phones and the internet to make his work – Andy himself said: “All my films are artificial, but then everything is sort of artificial, I don’t know where the artificial stops and the real starts.”’

Mayan portrait: a collaboration between Linda King and Adam PiggottThis project is affiliated  with the Trash Cannes Festival running from Monday 29–Wednesday 31 October, 2012
