Dana and Susan Robinson

The return of ragged-trousered folk

After a three month break, literally, club organiser Tony Streeter broke his ankle and was not able to haul PA and lighting equipment around, raggedtrouseredfolk returns to the Jenny Lind on Tuesday 16 September with Dana and Susan Robinson from Asheville, North Carolina, writes Tony.

Dana and Susan have been described as ….  ‘Two guitar-playing, banjo-frailing. fiddle-sawing, and harmony singing interpreters of the American experience. Their unique blend of contemporary songwriting and traditional Appalachian music bring to their performance a deep understanding of America’s music heritage.’  Or as WBSU Radio Indiana said, ‘Great great music.’

The upstairs room, where the gigs are held, holds a maximum of 45 people, is candlelit and wonderfully intimate.  And ssshhhh! The gigs are hushed. No conversations, no mobile phones, no cameras.

Upstairs at the Jenny Lind, High Street, Hastings Old Town, TN34 3EW on Tuesday 16 September. Support is from popular local folk singer and author Ed Boxall. Tickets on the door only, £7. Doors open 7.30pm.
