All that jazz…
HOT columnist Sean O’Shea talks with Liane Carroll about her life as a singer and musician, her experience of working with other musicians, the demise of the pub piano and the future of jazz. He asks how her continuing success has affected her musically and personally, and also enquires about her life outside music.
Liane Carroll, Hastings resident and world-renowned jazz vocalist, will perform a special concert on Saturday 13 April, at 8pm at St Mary in the Castle, to support the release of her new album Ballads which features the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra.
Liane will perform with her quartet plus the East Sussex Student String players who will accompany her in the Ballads section of the concert, playing orchestrations written by Grammy-winning arranger Chris Walden.
This will be a valued opportunity for the young string players and a great addition to their professional experience. Liane will also be playing for five nights in London at the Pizza Express Jazz Club. Her album is due for release on 15 April 2013.
Local artist Lester Magoogan designed the album cover.
