Barefoot Opera’s Young Artists

La Bohème

Young struggling artists? Sound familiar? La Bohème, Puccini’s romantic depiction of bohemian Paris, is one of the best-loved of all operas, and a perfect match for Barefoot Opera’s Young Artists who bring their raw talent and creativity to the production.

‘I am particularly pleased to present La Bohème with the Barefoot Opera spirit… that is, with a very young cast and a very ‘gypsy’ band, to allow this opera, so often predictably staid and performed by stars in their forties, a sense of real youthfulness.’ (Jenny Miller, Director)

Director Jenny Miller is determined to bring a fresh, youthful dimension to this often-staged opera. With an international cast of outstanding young professionals, and Barefoot Opera’s fresh, energetic ensemble style, this production promises to inspire and delight. Designer Jane Bruce, continuing her expressive, painterly collaboration with Barefoot Opera, brings a further youthful edge to Puccini’s imagined Paris.

Whether you’re a La Bohème devotee, or a complete novice to opera, this should be a production like no other!
