Get Inspired! Get Involved!

Fascinating educational and creative courses for adults. The Hastings area is a great place to live if you want to expand or share your knowledge and make new friends.

The longest established voluntary provider of adult education in England, the W.E.A. (the Workers Educational Association) has a local Hastings branch. Hastings W.E.A. puts on a varied range of adult education courses throughout the year. These include fascinating introductions to new areas of knowledge.

Groups are small (a maximum size of 18 people) and take place in a range of comfortable venues around the area of Hastings, St. Leonards and Bexhill. They are lucky in having a really brilliant group of teachers with years of experience between them.

There are practical art and craft courses in watercolour painting, sketching and basket weaving. There have been literary and poetry courses. There is a new course in digital SLR photography which, in addition to learning all about the technical side of cameras, introduces creative techniques and managing projects. There are courses in History and in the History of Art at Hastings own Jerwood Gallery and there are some really engaging discussion groups about current affairs.

The W.E.A. is also always looking to develop new areas of adult education, so if you have something that you yourself could offer and you would like to be a Tutor, or otherwise get involved with the work of the W.E.A. – do please get in touch!
