Hastings Arts Forum Auction 2015

Two Knights of the Realm  Sir Peter Blake and Sir Ian McKellen  along with Derek Jarman and Muhammad Ali, are but a few of the great and glorious names that will be at the 2015 Hastings Arts Forum’s Annual Auction on Saturday, 21 February. The Auction begins at 2pm sharp – get there 20 minutes before in order to register for your official auction ‘paddle’.

Images by or of these luminaries will be among more than 100 lots for sale at the Forum. As canny locals know all too well, this is a great opportunity to buy art at affordable prices from established artists, as well as investing in up and coming artists in the area. Taking part in the Auction is good fun and is one of the most important ways to finance the annual costs of Hastings Arts Forum.

The auction has been running for over five years and has grown exponentially. Last year there was literally standing room only. The Forum is extremely pleased to announce that last year’s auctioneer, Mr Martin Phillips, will be back to run the show in his irrepressibly exuberant manner.

Over 100 works of art are available for viewing before the actual sale begins, so anyone who wants to get in early is advised to get down to the Forum to have a look. Or browse through the online catalogue at the works of art going under the hammer.

Proceeds from the Auction will help to raise money for Hastings Arts Forum – one of the leading community arts organisations in the southeast of England – so that it can continue its role as a major arts centre, as well as promoting arts education and training.

Members of the Hastings/St Leonards arts community have generously donated all of the artwork in the Auction. It is the generosity of spirit of these people that sustains the Forum in its continuing vitality and increasing range of activities throughout the community.

About Hastings Arts Forum
Hastings Arts Forum was founded over 12 years ago, and has had its home in Marine Court for most of that time. The original gallery has doubled inside and the two spaces provide an important venue for art shows of regional importance. Membership of Hastings Arts Forum costs £35 per year – and there’s currently a special offer for two artists to register at once for £50.00. Membership enables you to exhibit in members’ shows, and hire the gallery at a reasonable cost for individual or small group shows. You also get discounts at local arts supplies shops, so over a eyar you can easily reclaim the cost of your annual membership.
