Blackshed receives 1066 Business Award
Established in 2010 and having featured some of the most prominent artists to come out of the South East, the blackShed Gallery in Robertsbridge has won a fantastic award in recognition of their achievements.
The blackShed Gallery was presented with the 2016 Judge’s Special Recognition Award in the Small Business Category at the glittering awards ceremony hosted by 1066 Business Awards.
Located in the heart of the East Sussex countryside, the blackShed Gallery has quickly become a significant contemporary art space within the South East of England. The blackShed makes it its business to seek out the unusual and what is sometimes the unseen from artists of all backgrounds within the local area and along the south coast.
Owner and curator Kenton Lowe says “Massive opportunities exist for the blackShed Gallery. It is a humble space that is often punching above its weight. The blackShed is managed and run single-handedly, but not without the continuous support from a team of volunteers and freelance service providers, as well as the goods and services provided by our trusted local suppliers.
“Of course the blackShed will continue to grow and draw strength from the people that deliver and support its projects, but it has experienced extraordinary success since it first opened and just this year, the gallery achieved the highest return on a single exhibition to date as well as two sell-out shows… The blackShed is not just surviving, its thriving!”
