Internationally renowned artists’ work to be auctioned in support of local arts organisation
Alan Rankle has donated a limited edition print to Hastings Arts Forum for their upcoming Art Auction, which features alongside a photograph by the esteemed and widely collected Bruce Rae. These collectable items add to the work generously donated by many other local artists and will come under the hammer at 2pm Saturday 1 April at the Forum’s gallery at 36 Marina St Leonards-on-Sea.
John Cole, a Hastings Arts Forum trustee, said, ‘We are delighted that artists of Alan Rankle and Bruce Rae’s stature and reputation are supporting us by donating their work. Hastings Arts Forum is a charitable organisation and does not receive any outside funding. It is entirely dependent on membership fees, sales commissions and fundraising activities – most especially the annual auction. Therefore, we cannot overstate the importance of the support we have received from Alan and Bruce.”
“However, the auction not only offers us the opportunity to raise much-needed funds, but it also offers artists from the area an opportunity to introduce themselves and their work to a wider audience and, for people interested in contemporary art, access to the work of a broad range of local artists.”
All donated work will be exhibited at Hastings Arts Forum’s gallery from Tuesday 21st March. Opening hours are every day except Monday from 11am – 5pm. The trustees are holding two preview events on the evenings of Friday 24th and 31st March where people can browse the work in a convivial atmosphere with a glass of wine.
Sealed bids for the items can be taken prior to the event. All items that have been donated for the auction can be found on the Arts Forum’s website.
A printed catalogue will be available at the gallery from the 21st March and the items can also be found on Twitter: @hastingsarts #hafauction17
The second private viewing is today, Friday 31 March from 6.30–8.30pm.
The Forum will be open on Saturday from 11am. The auction begins at 2pm.
Hastings Arts Forum is at 36 The Marina, St Leonards-on-Sea TN38 0BU
