St Michael’s Hospice Vintage Fayre this Saturday
Textile artist Claire Buckley is one of many traders getting ready for the St Michael’s Hospice Vintage Fayre this Saturday. Erica Smith went to see what she was making.
Claire said: “I will be running some workshops as well as selling lots of vintage textiles and artefacts including paper patterns, covered chairs, books and goodie jars containing an assortment of beads, ribbons, buttons threads and fabrics. It would be great to see you and please let your friends know about this fun event.”
Claire is pictured here re-upholstering an old nursery school chair, using woven strips of denim. The chairs and denim jeans were donated, and Claire up-cycles them with proceeds going to St Michael’s Hospice.
She has also made an AMAZING pair of skimpy shorts from a silk scarf, fringed with turquoise pom-pom braiding… not to be missed!
The event runs from 10am to 4pm on Saturday 15 June. There will be a huge array of high quality arts and crafts to buy, as well as workshops and a vintage tea room. The hospice is in beautiful gardens at 25 Upper Maze Hill, St Leonards-on-Sea.
