Popular yard sale returns
The annual yard sale in Lower Park Road beside Alexandra Park takes place on Saturday 22 June, with part of the proceeds going to charity, as Chris Connelley reports.
After treading the boards for a number of years, or hosting popular television shows, much loved entertainers become national treasures.
And, in a similar vein, after a few years of running successfully, regular events become institutions.
Think Glastonbury, Wimbledon, the Chelsea Flower Show.
Here in Hastings, one of the more recent summer institutions is the annual Lower Park Road Yard Sale, which is returning for its fifth year.
This year’s outing is on Saturday 22 June, from 1100 until 1500, when many residents along this long road of over 100 houses will be clearing their lofts, garages and cellars to offer up a veritable feast of books, records, clothes, household items, objects d’art and bric-a-brac.
Expect bargains galore.
So, please pop by and pick up a bargain. You’ll also help support two outstanding local charities, Arts on Prescription and Warming up The Homeless, who will benefit from some of the takings.
If you are coming to Alexandra Park on Saturday 22 June, be sure to take a walk on the other side of the road. If you’ve been before, we look forward to seeing you again. And if it’s your first year visiting, you can be assured of a warm welcome on this most friendly of streets.
