The Hastings Storytelling Festival, a nine-day celebration of storytelling, took place between 14-22 October, captivating audiences across all areas of the town. An annual celebration, bringing together authors, storytellers, and literary enthusiasts to share their love for storytelling in all forms. The festival is committed to promoting creativity and community engagement and this year’s success is attributed to the tireless efforts and support of its trustees, patrons, Lauren Child, Thomas Taylor, and Inua Ellams – and the dedicated local producers 18 Hours. Before he brings his new tome to Hastings for a personal audience at the Cactus Hound on Thursday 16 November, he answers a few questions by Jude Montague.
Launching on Saturday 4 November is the new Powell and Pressburger film season at Hastings Old Town independent cinema, The Electric Palace. The season has been part-curated by local students, and will feature talks, artworks, workshops, podcasts and more, created by young people in Hastings and Bexhill, writes Annie Waite.
Care for the Carers is delighted to announce that they have received the bronze award from East Sussex County Council’s Wellbeing at Work scheme. The award is given to local organisations who have built successful foundations of a healthy workplace. The charity was assessed across 10 criteria including mental health, healthy eating, leadership, management and workplace culture.
