Are you on Universal Credit? Your experience is wanted

Introduced by the government in recent years, Universal Credit is already a reality for many working-age claimants in Hastings and will become so for many more in the future. Sophie Negus, a PhD student at Sheffield Hallam University, is investigating how this new form of benefit is impacting the lives of those who receive it. She has decided to carry out her research in Hastings, her home town, where she wishes to speak to recipients of the benefit, as she explains.

Two-year project aims to bring Country Park heritage to light

The heritage hidden in Hastings Country Park is to be brought to light in a joint project between Hastings Borough Council and environmental charity Groundwork South, supported by funding from the Heritage Lottery Fund. Nick Terdre reports.

Age Gap Tax protest: noon on Thursday 9 May outside Amber Rudd’s constituency office

From 15 May 2019, couples where one person is over State Pension age while the other is under that age won’t be able to claim Pension Credit or pension-age Housing Benefit. Instead, both people will need to reach State Pension age before they can claim Pension Credit or Housing Benefit.
