SOS: Sustainability On Sea

Whether you believe in climate change or not, living our lives more sustainably surely makes good common sense, writes HOT’s Zelly Restorick. SOS: Sustainability on Sea is a full programme of events jointly organised by Transition Town Hastings and Energise Sussex Coast covering issues such as food, energy, water, waste, community gardens, transport, beach cleans, fishing, economics, etc – exploring ideas, initiatives and innovations designed to develop and evolve a more sustainable future for Hastings and St Leonards.

Sustainable: Conserving an ecological balance by avoiding depletion of natural resources (OED definition)

The week begins with the Ocean Symposium at St Mary in the Castle and ends with a Celebration Day on 30 September 11am – 4pm at the Stade Hall, Stade Kitchen and Stade Open Space including workshops, demonstrations, promoting local goods and organisations, stalls and food and activities for all ages.

SOS: Sustainability On Sea Celebration Day: Book a stall here. Free for information stalls and £15 for those selling or promoting goods and services.

HOT will be writing more articles over the coming weeks on the theme of sustainable living. Here you can read our existing articles on The Ocean Symposium and Thrift Fest and find out more about Transition Town Hastings and Energise Sussex Coast.
