Crisis Continues at SMIC

It’s the second week in March, and little has shifted. Hastings Trust has local planning permission but only with a 10pm closing time for its planned youth centre, and will be unlikely to get its grant without Listed Building Consent which will take several months at least, and that’s if there are no objections. Yet still there is no move from HBC to extend the present lease. So the only concession has been from present tenant Barbara Rogers, who after the last deadline passed has agreed to keep it open for one more month, until the end of August. Meanwhile, the building is going great guns…
