Show you care by gathering outside the Walk-in Centre this Saturday at 1pm
Sat 1 Dec: show you care about the Walk-in Centre
This Saturday at 1pm, you are invited to the fourth gathering outside the Walk-in Centre at Station Plaza, Hastings. HOT’s Erica Smith explains why she will be back at station plaza this Saturday.
Some things are worth fighting for – and the Walk-in Centre is a fine example. After our last gathering in October, we decided to meet again on Saturday 1 December and we would love you to spare half an hour of your day to gather with us. Why?
It’s important that we show the Clinical Commissioning Group HOW important it is to have a town centre, accessible service that you can just WALK-IN to – without having an appointment. Because:
Even if you have a GP, you are often asked to wait up to two weeks for an appointment, and sometimes you might need to be seen immediately – e.g. if you have had a stroke or suspected heart attack, or if you have a kidney infection.
Hastings has a high proportion of visitors and language students – and people who are not registered with a doctor who sometimes need to access health services.
The walk-in centre is an essential service for homeless people, something that is even more essential in winter months.
The Conquest Hospital is both expensive and not easy to get to by public transport and the car parks are usually full. The Walk-in Centre provides a valuable source for people in Hastings, as well as Rye and Bexhill. It is open from 8am to 8pm every day.
If you have ever used the Walk-in Centre, or if you want to make sure the service remains for you to use when you need it, pleaase come along on Saturday at 1pm for half an hour to show how much you value it staying where it is, and appointment-free.

Even little children know that the Walk-in Centre is an essential service
