Fill The Skies With Hope
Hastings Community of Sanctuary are holding an event on Sunday 30 October, called ‘Fill The Skies With Hope’. Co-chair Polly Gifford writes.
The event is part of a national campaign, #FillTheSkiesWithHope, to urge the Prime Minister and Home Secretary to reverse its policy of banishing refugees to Rwanda.
We want them to know that Hastings believes that refugees are human beings who deserve to be treated with compassion, not as problems that need to be moved on.

We invite people to come to Bottle Alley (Warrior Square end) at 3pm to make orange heart shaped paper planes with messages to the government. We will then launch them, as a group, at 4pm, filling the sky with hope. We will film the launch and share on social media, while the paper planes will be collected up and delivered to the PM via our MP Sally-Ann Hart.
All materials and instructions will be provided, all people need to do is come along. If people want to make a paper plane in advance, watch this video for how to do it:
