4 March – Stage Two 2015 Piano Concerto Competition
Stage Two at the Hastings International Piano Concerto Competition, a short film, made by Oscar Nominated Director Mike Figgis, from the 2015 Competition. Stage 2 took place on Wednesday 4 March, and is a Beethoven and Mozart stage. The Semi-final recitals of own choice repertoire take place on Thursday 5 March at 5pm.
Unfortunately 20 year old Kent born Tyler Hay did not progress to the semi-final, so the interview in this film may be the last to be seen. Well done Tyler! The people who heard Tyler play at the 2012 Hastings International Composers’ Festival and again this March at the White Rock Theatre all think he is a wonderful musician with a bright career ahead. It may not have been an advantage that Tyler is a student of Frank Wibaut, the senior judge of the competition.
There will be a Masterclass for the three unsuccessful semi-finalists with members of the International Jury on Friday 6th, at Fairlight Hall, at 6pm. The Final takes place on Saturday 7 March with the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra at 5.50pm.
