A new 6 a side football league has been announced and they are looking for teams. HOT’s new sports writer, Harvey Cato (left) tells us more.

Football Mundial are organising the league and  it will be hosted on the superb all-weather 3G pitch at Horntye Sports Park.

It is free to enter the league and a deal has just been completed by Mitre to provide match balls for the season. This is an amazing opportunity for the community of Hastings.

There will be 24 teams competing in three divisions with promotion and relegation taking place.

6-a-side football has grown dramatically over the past year across the UK, meaning Hastings will join the rest of the nation in this developing sport. The weekly match fee is £30 (£5 per player). Matches will run on Wednesday evenings from 7–9pm.

John Sykes from Football Mundial says: “The league is open to everyone as it is a local community 6-a-side league and we will have teams of different standards, so everyone can put a team in and compete at their own level. Top quality trophies and prizes will be awarded to all winners and runners-up of the league.”
