Open Letter to Katy Bourne
The Refugee Buddy Project has been working with local community members on a local response to the horrific incident in Merseyside last week – and have written a joint statement with Hastings Community of Sanctuary and Hastings Supports Refugees to Katy Bourne the Police and Crime Commissioner for Sussex asking for reassurance that plans are in place should anything similar happen here in Hastings.
The letter has been countersigned by many local residents and business owners.
The letter can be seen here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/e/2PACX-1vSYtISDCIPlKn1uWRFdhQGBUQDLekrV1Ta-I0zpip2n39nFtKkFwf98mdyg8_Sbp2OLQVBbHEMV7Gcn/pub
Quote from the letter: “After the incident on Friday in Merseyside we met with members of our community at the weekend. We are writing this open letter to Katy Bourne, Police and Crime Commissioner for Sussex, asking for reassurance that plans are in place to prevent a similar incident in our town. We are also involved with the community based response group who are organising to be ready to respond and defend our neighbours should the need arise. We sincerely hope this won’t be necessary, but we will not stand by and let our neighbours be harassed.”
