Robert Tressell
Tressell for Pelham Roundabout
By John Knowles
What finer site could there be
Than to find a statue bold and heroic
As you drive from St Leonards-on-Sea
A statue in the Soviet style
In gleaming bronze
Standing out for a mile
A man holding high a brush
And a manifesto for change
To stop the traffic in its rush
Robert Tressell a working mans story
Overseen by the council workers
Sadly ruled over by a Tory
Come people of Hastings before you are dead
Rise up brush and hammer in hand
And paint the sea, the walls, the roundabout red
