Polaroid
By Thom Kofoed
Thom Kofoed graduated from the University of Brighton in 2009 with a degree in Fine Art.
He likes to sew, draw, paint, make films, dress up and take photographs of himself and write.
He sometimes writes vignettes. He sometimes writes poems. He sometimes writes lists of things he wishes he was, but will never be.
He rarely leaves the house without hand sanitiser.
Joanna Lumley once wrote him a note sending her ‘warmest good wishes’.
He thinks about them often.
He was the Under 11’s rope climbing champion of 1994 at his primary school.
It was an honour he took on gladly.
Underneath the intrinsic humour of a lot of his work is a deep-seated fear of leaving no mark on the world and having his life pass by before he realised what he had. He trusts that you are able to delve beneath the surface and understand that his practice is actually a tool for him to try to better understand and confront the concerns he has about himself.
He is frightened more often than not.
He is trying in spite of it.
