Hastings photographer among the prizes
Hastings-based photographer Chris Parker has won the top prize in the British Weather category at the prestigious British Life Photography Awards with his image of the Old Town net huts in a snow blizzard. Another of his photographs featuring the St Michael’s Hospice Santa Fun Run in Alexandra Park was highly recommended in the Street Life category. Kevin Boorman, marketing & major projects manager at Hastings Borough Council, writes.
The competition aims to showcase contemporary and imaginative images that capture the essence and spirit of British life.
Chris said: “I was really pleased to have won these awards, especially because both were of Hastings. Although I travel extensively, there’s no place like home, or Hastings, and it’s great that the judges recognised this too.”
Winning entries in the 2015 competition can be seen in an exhibition at the Mall Galleries in London until 13 March and then at Banbury Museum from 25 March to 9 July. A book with these and many other eye-catching images is available from the BLPA.
