What’s HOT at the White Rock Theatre this Winter
The nights are drawing in, but the lights are shining bright on Hastings biggest stage at the White Rock Theatre (WRT). A brand new line-up of great live entertainment has just been announced with many new shows, live music, stand-up comedy and the best in touring theatre. All this can be found in the new brochure for winter/spring, writes Paul Way-Rider.
Highlights coming up this winter and spring include:
Slade: Rockin’ Home for Christmas – Thu 5 Dec
Led by founding members Dave Hill on lead guitar and Don Powell on drums, with John Berry – lead vocals, bass, acoustic guitar and violin, and Russel Keefe – lead vocals and keyboards, Slade today is still one of the most exciting bands on the road, with a dynamic and powerful stage show.
With their unique blend of flamboyance and pure fun, and having 23 top-20 singles of which six were no. 1 hits….plus six albums, Slade have become a firm favourite in the hearts of pop fans all over the world.

The Lost Toys’ Big Christmas Adventure
Fri 13 – Sun 29 Dec
This is a family show with original, live music written and performed by Tony award-winner and Hastings resident Sarah Travis. Three toys created in Father Christmas’s North Pole Factory: a doll, an emotiBot (a robot with a button to change his emotions) and a superhero fall out of Santa’s sleigh and land on the south-east coast. We follow their journey to reach the children they are intended for before they wake on Christmas morning.

Aladdin: Fri 13 – Sun 29 Dec
Starring Duncan James (Blue, West End shows Chicago, Legally Blonde and Rocky Horror Show) and the return of Hastings panto comic Ben Watson! This is the biggest family pantomime to ever grace the WRT stage! Packed with hilarious jokes, a dash of danger, song and dance routines, stunning costumes and special effects;

Milton Jones in Milton Impossible Sat 25 Jan
Milton’s brand new stand-up show for 2020. One man. One Mission. Is it possible? No, not really.
Milton reveals the truth about being an international spy, before being given a disappointing new identity which forced him to appear on Mock the Week and Live at the Apollo. Just gloriously daft nonsense or is there a deeper meaning?

I Got Love For You, 1980s Sat 21 Mar
‘I Got Love For You’ is a blend of pop and soft rock and guarantees an extraordinary evening of 80’s music. The live band Electric Dreams plays 80’s hits made famous by bands including Duran Duran, Dexy’s Midnight Runners, Kim Wilde, Rick Astley, The Human League, A-ha, Tears for Fears and many more!

From The Jam Sat 11 Apr
The 40th anniversary tour of the iconic Setting Sons album with original The Jam bassist Bruce Foxton and Russell Hastings. The critically acclaimed album reached no. 4 in the UK and was the band’s first album to enter the US charts.
