The Bula Loop
The Bula Loop
The Bula Loop is a poignant and darkly comic piece following a day in the life of a family living with autism. Written and developed by Tom Page and directed by Tim Marriott (Gavin Featherly in the 1990s BBC One sitcom The Brittas Empire). John Knowles writes.
This is a poignant story reflecting Tom’s own experiences of life with an autistic sibling. The play also features two local actors, Grace Amy Collett, who has just been accepted on the National Theatre’s training programme – and myself; I have an autistic son and so have a direct personal experience of autism within the family.
The play has received the support of the National Autistic Society, has already bagged substantial pre-sales for tickets at the Brighton Fringe Festival and has featured on both local and national news. But this isn’t just an ‘autistic’ play, it’s a play about family, about the daily pressures of any family, it is darkly comic and full of surprises, just like real life.
