The Arrival

The Arrival

The Arrival is a new work by local theatre company, NuNah, who continue to develop highly creative, physical performances, full of dynamic movement and emotive music, writes HOT’s John Knowles. Directed by Vicky Heath, who recently appeared as Puck in Mercatoria’s ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’, this is a welcome return and a boost to Hastings performing arts.

The Arrival follows the journey of a man who migrates to a new land, desperately trying to communicate and make some sense of it all. Why has he left his family behind? What on earth is he hoping to find? At what cost?
The story is an extraordinary blend of bold physicality, beautiful images and evocative music and celebrates NuNah’s unique style and energy. Visually stunning and astoundingly visceral, barely pausing for breath, this show chronicles a man trying to connect and communicate in his strange new surroundings.

There will be two performances of The Arrival:

28 Sept : The Stade, Hastings Old Town at 7.30pm as part of Stade Live

29 Sept  : The Masonic Hall, St Leonards at 8pm

Tickets for the Masonic Hall show are available on the door and via the website at £8

Reviews of previous shows by NuNah:

“I was struck by the originality of the form – neither dance, nor traditional theatre, but an interesting and moving crossover of physical performance and storytelling.  I was left with the feeling of wanting to see more of what this quirky and original group can do”.  Marion Caitlin, Arts Development, UK East Regional Coordinator.

“Honest, brave, moving, funny, skilled, thoughtful, high impact”.  De La Warr Pavillion

“Such beautiful choreography”. Natalie Jode, Creative Arts East
