Buddy Holly and the Cricketers at the White Rock Theatre

Join Buddy Holly and the Cricketers on this highly anticipated tour as they hit the stage with their dynamic show, featuring authentic arrangements, driving rhythms, energetic performances and skilled musicianship. The band will be appearing at the White Rock Theatre in Hastings on Sunday 15 October. Dani Maimone writes.

The Buddy Holly and the Cricketers show includes all Buddy’s big hits such as: That’ll Be The Day, Peggy Sue, Heartbeat, It Doesn’t Matter Anymore, Raining In My Heart and Oh Boy! – plus some super stunners from other chart-topping artists.

Producer Simon Fielder, a former actor in the original touring and West End show, said: “As a young guitarist I listened to Buddy and he massively influenced my playing and writing.  My adult life has been spent performing his music and presenting other actor-musicians on stages all over the world over the past 30 years.”

Simon, and some members of the original Buddy Holly Story cast, decided it would be a great idea to create their own unique Buddy Holly act with a tour of the UK, as Buddy himself had done in 1958. This led to the formation of Buddy Holly and the Cricketers, who launched their first tour from Lincoln in 1992.

This was to be – and is – a show with a difference, not a tribute band but an event with audience participation and connection, actors with musical talent who could bring a unique and authentic twist to the performances to include comedy as well as music. The show has toured the UK and Ireland and visited Sweden, the Caribbean, Thailand and the Gulf States and performed a marathon tour across the USA.

The style of the show has always been that it really is Buddy, transported through time at the tender age of 22 to modern day England to perform with a British band.
