Slum of Legs

Slum of Legs & Codex Serafini to play The Brass, Hastings

Following the successful return of Sunday Sonics at The Crypt in February, and heavyweight sets by groundbreaking international electronic artists Yao Bobby & Simon Grab and Dhangsha at The Piper in St Leonards on Sea last month, Sonics present two more electrifying acts on 20th May 2022. The Sonics’ James Weaver has the details.

Hitting the stage at The Brass, Hastings – a venue where at least one of them once worked – will be Slum of Legs, a giant, pop-psych, punk monster. This “queer feminist noise-pop band with a DIY heart” are Alex, Emily, Kate, Maria, Mich and Tamsin. They write songs about ghosts, architecture, gender, loneliness and hair envy. You can dance to all of them. Their debut album ‘Slum of Legs’ (Spurge Recordings, 2020) was a manifesto for compassion and defiance in a confusing, unrestful world. Since all the world has done since that urgent and inspiring record came out has been to get less restful and more confusing, Slum of Legs’ music is needed now more than and ever.

Codex Serafini

Having already brought their message to a sold out Lewes Psych Fest 2022, Codex Serafini have recently toured with cult German psychedelic outfit Electric Moon and supported Japanese legends Melt Banana in Brighton. Also be sure to check out their current label @halfmeltedbrainrecords This show will definitely be a mind melter so don’t miss it!

We can’t wait to welcome both bands to Hastings and with the evening’s entertainment rounded out by DJs Juliet Harris and the enigmatic Geoff Travesty, with visuals by VersicolorVision, this looks set to be a night Havelock Road will never forget.
