Wow, what’s that?
If you’re craving an earblasting, wallshaking, night of everything louder than everything else, then head on down to St Mary in the Castle to raise some hell. Rock Astrologer Enid Williams thrashes it out with Motorheadache’s head honcho Rob Campbell.
It’s three years now since the legendary Lemmy passed over to the great gig in the sky and his band Motorhead played their final show. We (my band Girlschool) were in the middle of a tour together alongside the Mighty Saxon, ready for an assault on the UK that was not to be.
As Lemmy said to a young Scotsman back in 2003, “I just want people to hear the music”. ‘Lemmyafiver’ suggested Rob as the first UK tribute band took shape. An old nickname, but Lemmy didn’t like that, all the same. ‘Motorahead’ said Lem, but Motorheadache’ it became. He still laughs about how he didn’t take his cue from the great man himself.
Rob was born with a double dose of Gemini (Sun and Moon) and slap bang in the middle stands Lemmy’s Uranus, planet of electric bolts of lightning and earthshaking quakes. ‘Wow, what’s that ?!’ thought Rob on hearing the unique sound of Lemmy’s voice and bass. ‘An electric line, to your Zodiac sign’ as the song goes.
So motor on down to St Mary in the Castle as the boys come to town for a night of mayhem on Saturday 2 Feb – it’ll be ace !
