Local jazz star wins national award
Local Jazz Star, Liane Carroll from Hastings Old Town has grabbed another national award to add to decades of recognication. Hot’s Solomon Curtis spoke to Liane about the achievement.
Liane Carroll has become one of the best known local celebrities with a career spanning decades. She’s provided the world with powerful and refreshing jazz music, therefore it’s no surprise that another award is added to her tally this week.
From Musician of the Year in the 2008 Parliamentary Jazz Awards to the 2005 BBC Jazz Award’s best vocalist, Liane has become known internationally for her dynamic music. This week she claimed the 2012 British Jazz Award’s best vocalist.
After accidentally leaking the news on Facebook a week early, Liane was overwhelmed that she had received another award. No wonder she couldn’t wait to get the news out!
Liane is still performing/recording like she has since the start of her career and will be releasing a new CD in January. Lucky local residents can often experience a Liane Carroll performance at Porters in the Old Town High Street, on a Wednesday night for FREE!
