Hastings’ musical witches cast a spell with debut album Crowdfunder

As the leaves turn and the air crackles with the enchantment of autumn, Hastings finds itself graced by a remarkable coven of talented witches, ready to weave their magic through music. This week marked the launch of a crowdfunder for Message From The Ravens, a captivating Hastings band looking to record their debut album and share their unique sound with the world. Sharon Rhodes is spellbound…

Comprising an eclectic mix of musicians, Message From The Ravens features all singer-songwriters including Siddy Bennett who plays gutsy acoustic guitar. She is joined by Lily Kim who brings a dreamy electric flair to the group, Hannah Dennard, who enchants audiences with her keyboard and flute skills, and Philly Piggott, who lays down the rhythm on thunderous drums. Together, these talented women are set to redefine the local music scene.

Their sound has been described as ‘witchy folk banshee country’, echoing themes of female empowerment with a mystical twist. This is not just a band; it’s a celebration of strength and individuality. All members are independent musicians in their own right and proudly identify as neurodiverse, showcasing the richness of diversity within the creative community.

The band’s next gig is scheduled for Friday 25 October at The Piper where they will be supporting The Gulls. Tickets for this much-anticipated performance can be purchased through DICE, and it promises to be a night filled with enchanting melodies and powerful messages.

The whole band in action

In a testament to their resourcefulness and determination, Message From The Ravens have taken on the task of filming and editing their own music videos, ensuring that their artistic vision remains authentic and true to their roots. This self-sufficiency not only highlights their talent but also their commitment to carving out a space for themselves in the competitive music industry.

As their crowdfunder kicks off, the band is calling on the Hastings community to rally together and support their journey. This is an opportunity for fans of folk music, those who cherish female empowerment, and anyone who believes in the transformative power of art, to come together and make a difference.

Let’s support our local witches and help Message From The Ravens take flight! Contributions to the crowdfunder will not only help them record their debut album but also elevate the voices of these remarkable women in the music world. Join us in celebrating creativity, community, and the magic that Hastings has to offer.
