Tymon Dogg plays rare live show at Electric Palace on 2 August

Catch The Clash collaborator Tymon Dogg play live at The Electric Palace

Championed by The Clash’s Joe Strummer, grab a rare chance to see talented multi-instrumentalist singer songwriter Tymon Dogg live on 2 August in the intimate surroundings of the Electric Palace as part of its Summer Music Season 2024, says Annie Waite.

Though best known for his work with punk rock band The Clash and its singer Joe Strummer, Tymon Dogg’s solo career as a singer-songwriter has spanned five decades.

Mongolian throat singing in the mix

A multi-instrumentalist, Tymon’s music is difficult to categorise, with a variety of ingredients – folk, Indian, flamenco, gipsy-punk and Mongolian throat singing to name a few – swirling around in a highly energetic and original mix.

Joe Strummer, who championed Tymon’s music to the extent that he paid for and produced an as-yet unreleased album (Hollowed Out) described Tymon as ‘a turbo-futurist’!

Tymon has played in Hastings before, but not for a while, so this upcoming show at the Electric Palace on Friday 2 August is something of a rare opportunity to see him perform live in the area as part of the Electric Palace’s Summer Music Season 2024.

See Blur: To The End on Sat 24 August

Other special events just announced for the season include in September a Q&A with members of Lush alongside a screening of a film about the shoegazing band, and before that, at the end of August, the new film about one of England’s most enduring bands, Blur: To The End.

Rave reviews

Record label Tiny Global recently hooked up with Tymon to re-release his back catalogue, with his Battle of Wills garnering rave reviews in October 2023.

Tymon also fronts a Spanish band, Tymon Dogg & The Dacoits, whose new album The Granada Sessions was released in May 2024.

“An overlooked pioneer”

“The guy’s an utter legend” says Rock ‘n’ Reel magazine, while Uncut magazine describes him as “An overlooked pioneer”.

Find out for yourself and don’t delay to grab your tickets for his live performance at the Electric Palace cinema, 39a High Street in Hastings Old Town, coming up on 2 August 2024.
