Old Movies Saved My Life

Remember the days before we forgot the true meaning of Christmas – like watching Gone with The Wind after too much pudding? Comedian Mel Byron does, says Annie Waite.

Growing up in a small town in the 70s and 80s, Mel learnt everything she knows about life from watching films of the 30s and 40s. She’ll take you on a funny and affectionate journey into the films that shaped her teenage years, and the years beyond. She’ll introduce you to a host of characters: The World’s Most Beautiful Man, Britain’s Poshest Woman and the film star who invented WiFi.

Containing more hairspray than an episode of RuPaul’s Drag Race, and pithier comebacks than Martini hour with Joan Crawford and Bette Davis, you’ll not only learn about the history of cinema, but enjoy many laughs along the way.

Mel’s performed across the country – here are some of her recent reviews:

“It felt like we were all in a lovely film club…may just make your day” – The Scotsman

“Best show we’ve seen at the Fringe!”
and “Terrific fun, and very interesting”- Faversham Fringe Sold Out Show.

Like the sound of that? Book for Old Movies Saved My Life comedy performance on Saturday 14 December, 8pm.
