Nature: a season of films

Every Wednesday, the creatively-inspired pair, Thom Kofoed and Sean Berkeley at St Mary In The Castle, have been organising a Film Night with a Theme – and the Theme for April is NATURE. Tonight’s film is A River Runs Through It, it’s £5 per ticket and you get to watch a good film in a lovely venue. Zelly Restorick writes.

St Mary In The Castle is such a beautiful venue in the town – and a great space to watch a midweek movie.

“To celebrate the coming of spring,” says Thom, “we’ve decided our next season of films will be about nature. We’re really happy with the selection (we’ve even added in the documentary, Cave of Forgotten Dreams for those of you who are interested) and we hope you’ll come along to a screening.

“We’ve been having a riot with our film seasons this year and are hoping to bring a new one to you every month, but we need your support. Please come on down and watch one or two of the films in one of the most beautiful spaces in Hastings. We can’t wait to have you.”

Each week, the bearded twosome, Thom and Sean, hilariously re-enact a scene from the movie to be shown. This week, unusually, it’s Thom and Thom playing both the roles in a scene from A River Runs Through It.

A river runs through itThom & Thom (nope, that isn’t a typo) have recreated a scene from the Brad Pitt film ‘A river runs through it’, which just so happens to be our screening this Wednesday night. We think they’ve done a pretty stellar job, don’t you?!This story of the two sons of a stern minister — one reserved, one rebellious — growing up in rural Montana while devoted to fly fishing was directed by the one and only Robert Redford and kicks off our brand new Nature film season (it’s waaaaaaaaaaay more interesting than it sounds, we promise). Doors open at 6.45pm this Wednesday, April 6th and tickets are £5 (they can be bought in advance here —> http://www.musicglue.com/stmaryinthecastle/events/6-apr-16-film-screening-a-river-runs-through-it-st-mary-in-the-castle/)Come in through the cafe as usual. We can’t wait to start our new season; we’re over the top excited about each of the films!

Hey there Ali, the films with nature as a theme are showing all through April – on a Wed evening at St Marys. In May, there’ll be a different theme and a new set of films by Thom and Sean.
