Hidden Connections
The Electric Palace Cinema, the Stade Education Project and the Fishermen’s Protection Society have worked in partnership to commission three new films reworking archive film footage of Hastings and St Leonards.
Love Your Lido / Mat McDonnell / 7 mins
Love Your Lido is an exciting reworking of newly discovered archive film from the 1930s, 1940s and 1950s of St Leonards open-air bathing pool, and ‘new vintage’ material filmed at a 50s themed event on 22nd August 2009 at Salt Dean Lido.
Changes on the Stade / Hillcrest After School Film Club & Tom Hillenbrand / 37mins
The Stade Education Project and the Fisherman’s Protection Society have worked with students from Hillcrest After School Film Club to create a film focusing on the history and developments on the Stade. Hastings has one of England’s oldest fishing fleets.
The Making Of.. / James Patterson / 7mins
Alongside these two film makers there was a third filmmaker who was recruited from the University Centre Hastings; James Patterson. He was commissioned to record the whole project as a creative evaluation of Hidden Connections.
