Hastings Book Festival announce launch party
On World Book Day, March 6, Hastings Book Festival and Hastings Book Festival Fringe are holding a launch party at Barnaby’s Lounge to meet and greet prospective local talent. Dee Williams reports.
World Book Day is an annual celebration of books and reading, when thousands of school pupils will dress as their favourite book-based character and will receive a £1 book token to redeem for one of a series of special books published on the day. Here in Hastings, we take our books seriously, with five independent bookshops and a growing community of writers and illustrators living in the town.

The Hastings Book Festival team, in collaboration with the Book Festival Fringe, are inviting local writers, publishers, poets, children’s authors and all interested parties to a bit of a do at Barnaby’s Lounge on Robertson Street from 6pm to 8pm. The evening will offer a chance to meet other writers, readers and book lovers, share details about current projects and maybe even sign up as a volunteer or contributor.
At this early stage, anything is possible, so pop along and meet the Book Festival team who are keen to support local talent.
