Laugh Out Loud comedy club at Hastings White Rock
Hastings latest new comedy show brings three TV comedians including Scottish comedian of the year, to the start of a regular venue comedy night in the newly refurbished Studio at Hastings White Rock.
The next Laugh Out Loud comedy club stars Paul Pirie, Aaron Simmonds, Jake Steers with Will Duggan (MC). and is on Friday 25 October 2024 at 8pm.
Paul Pirie began his stand-up career after giving up acting to pursue the funny man that lies within. Quickly establishing himself on the Scottish comedy circuit, he has been awarded runner up in the prestigious annual awards for Scottish Comedian of the Year making him the (second) funniest comedian in Scotland! A natural comedian, packed full of energy, he uses every ounce to maximum effect with superb delivery. With a set that jumps from bitchy to silly, you’re never more than a line away from a great pun, insight or well-crafted punch line.
Paul’s career has encompassed TV, film and radio alongside his skills as a stand-up, and he is now one of the biggest Scottish acts on the UK comedy circuit attracting glowing reviews
– “An hilarious rubber faced clown” – The Scotsman
– “His clowning and quick fire gags will win him fans… his physical mannerisms have a touch of Eric Morecambe” – The Daily Record
– “Inherently funny” – Edinburgh Guide
Aaron Simmonds’ comedic style is story based, with clever one-liners interspersed throughout. He offers sharply observed comedy which is grounded in his disability, but is by no means limited by it.
His credits include BBC At The Edinburgh Festivals (BBC Two), The Edinburgh Show (BBC Scotland) and Laura Whitmore’s Sunday Session (BBC Radio 5 Live). He’s also been seen and heard on BBC Three and BBC Radio 4 Extra, and has appeared in a BBC Quickie with Brennan Reece and Rosie Jones. Aaron performed his critically-acclaimed debut show, Disabled Coconut, at the Edinburgh Fringe which was also filmed by NextUp.
Aaron also has cerebral palsy and is a professionally-trained personal trainer, as well as a former international basketball player and world champion powerlifter.
– “A superb storyteller…a confident, sparky, smiley presence onstage… a perfect lesson in how to deal with the terminally patronising, this hour belts along on wheels of laughter.” **** – The Scotsman
– “Amiable, likeable, and a commanding presence on stage, Aaron Simmonds is an exciting talent” **** – Broadway Baby
Some people just have all round likeability factor and Jake Steers is certainly one of them. An easy conversational style makes audiences warm to him immediately and his one-off persona and off the cuff style has them all in stitches.
– “Strong punch lines delivered with a lovely laid-back style” – Glass Eye
– “You can’t help but be in a good mood when you watch Jake on stage. Likeable, natural and very funny.” – Big Deal
Will Duggan, the MC for this show, has been seen and heard on The Russell Howard Hour (Sky One), Fresh From the Fest (Radio 4), Monster Court (CBBC) and is an Edinburgh Comedy Award winner. He’s been performing comedy since 2009 and since then has cemented himself as a performer in comedy clubs around the country. He mixes stories and gags with a cheerfully cynical view of the world.
Will has provided tour support for Justin Moorhouse, Hal Cruttenden and Gary Delaney, and he recently recorded an episode for the comedy Turtle Canyon Lectures.
As well as performing as a stand-up comic Will is a performer and part of the writing team for the highly prestigious Edinburgh Fringe Fosters Award winning show Funz & Gamez.
