Opportunities for rising talent at HAF
Rising Talent is an opportunity for emerging artists to exhibit at The Gallery at Hastings Arts Forum (HAF). As part of HAF’s commitment to support and encourage local artists and bring art to the community, we are offering young and emerging artists the opportunity to exhibit their work free of charge for a period of two weeks at the beginning of April, writes Olivia Shaw, trustee of Hastings Arts Forum.
Gallery 2 will be closed for renovations from 4 April until 17 April, but Gallery 1 will be used to accommodate successful entries from emerging artists wishing to take advantage of this opportunity.
If you would like to submit pieces of work – in this instance paintings, drawings, photographs, prints, sculpture or ceramics – for consideration, please bring these to The Gallery at 36 Marina, St Leonards-on-Sea TN38 0BU on the morning of Monday 4 April for consideration by the Exhibitions Team. Successful entries will be hung ready for the exhibition to open on Tuesday 5 April. The opportunity will include a widely publicised private view to be held on the evening of Friday 8 April at 6:30pm.
This event is part of a research and development exercise being taken by the Forum with a view to holding an open competition offering a fully curated two-week show, free of charge*, for one or possibly two emerging artists early in 2017.
If you have any questions or need to know more, please email: info@hastingsartsforum.co.uk putting ‘Rising Talent’ into the subject line.
*There will be no charge for exhibiting – but a 50% commission will be charged on any and all sales resulting from the exhibition.
