Creative Industries Federation manifesto
In the light of the call for a general election, Richard de Pesando, via Hastings Creatives Media Network, passed on this link to the Creative Industries Federation cross-party manifesto, highlighting the role and needs of the creative industries in the UK, suggesting that it’s worth a read. Knowing that Hastings and St Leonards is populated by many a talented creative, HOT’s Zelly Restorick asked him if she could share his words and the link with you. It’s not a long or complicated read – see what you think.
“The Creative ‘Industries’ in Hastings are not just an essential part of its culture, economy and future, they’re a real, professional and vocational thing that people here earn their living by – regardless how anyone wishes to categorise it or how they place themselves within it.
“I’m not entirely sure how we separate creative livelihoods from personal or mainstream politics – or if we can. Certainly a more robust presentation of who and what we are could make a huge difference to our practices and the creative landscape in Hastings. Whoever you may chose to support in the coming weeks, I’d refer them to this and see what their response might be.”
