A bumptious proposal – and some!
There is still time to support or object to three planning proposals for 5G masts. HOT’s Erica Smith doesn’t normally get hot under the collar about 5G – but the plans for an 18m tall erection in Warrior Square have made her think twice.
I’ve always wondered why the building at the top West elevation of Warrior Square is called ‘Bumptious Mansions’. I may never know why – but the word ‘bumptious’ means ‘irritatingly self-assertive’ and that seems an appropriate description of the proposal for the 5G mast intended to be sited opposite Bumptious Mansions, in the north-west corner of the lower part of Warrior Square Gardens – on the corner of Norman Road and the A2102.
When I spoke to Liz Bygrave of the 5G Free Hastings group, she said that three planning applications are due for consultation this Tuesday. Unlike other planning applications, only three weeks are deemed necessary to discuss masts. So if you have concerns about 18m tall erections in Warrior Square or other masts in Bohemia Road and Little Ridge Avenue, it is essential that you make your concerns known before Tuesday 26 July.
You may have concerns about the aesthetic impact on the area, or the impact of 5G on health. Both types of concerns are valid and should be listened to by your local councillors and the planning committee. You can react to all three planning applications by following these links.
Comments in support or in opposition to the 5G masts are still welcome – it is advised that you comment by 9 August to guarantee your comment is considered before the planning decision is made.
