New portal to HTH Church.

Local church goes online

Holy Trinity Hastings (HTH), located on America Ground in the centre of Hastings, have announced that they will be hosting Sunday services online, writes Vanessa Alves.

In light of the Covid-19 outbreak and government and Church of England guidelines, large numbers can no longer meet together as a congregation. However, on Sunday at 11.15 am, everyone is still welcome to join Holy Trinity Hastings from the comfort of their own homes for family worship and a short talk.

Simon Larkin, the vicar said, ‘People are really missing our church community, and this period of isolation is going to be very difficult for all. So we are inviting everyone, the same way as always, to join us on a Sunday morning; to grab a coffee and visit our website or watch us on YouTube. We are working it out as we go along, but we want to keep supporting our church and providing some hope in this time of disruption and change. Everyone is still welcome.’

Sunday last week I watched from my own home as Simon Larkin and Sarah Larkin, his wife, welcomed us to this new format. Josh and Bethana Hobbs led worship while Tim Young gave a short talk based on Genesis chapter one. HTH will also be running the Alpha course, a chance to explore the Christian faith through the video format Zoom.

Due to the period of isolation, HTH has had to be creative in the way it continues to connect as a thriving church community during this time of uncertainty. These are just two of the new ways HTH will try to keep in touch and reach out. However, they are also working on more touch points to support the congregation and the wider community in the coming weeks.
