Women protesting Cruise Missiles, Hastings Town centre, 1983/4
Greenham Remembered: an exhibition
Nearly 40 years ago, 36 women set off from Cardiff in Wales to walk more than a hundred miles to Greenham Common in Berkshire. Once there they established a women-only peace camp to oppose the arrival of Cruise missiles. Very soon iconic images of the women dancing on silos or cutting wire appeared in newspapers around the world, making Greenham Common one of the most famous and dramatic anti-war actions of all time.
Now Women’s Voice is hosting an exhibition, Greenham Remembered, which features photographs and personal memories of local women who visited or took part in actions at Greenham.
