The Big Sleep 2018
The Seaview Project in St Leonards on Sea presents their annual Sponsored Sleep Out, raising funds and awareness of homelessness. You can participate as an individual or as a team – or you can sponsor one of the participants or make a donation. Every penny goes direct to Seaview and will support those who live on the margins of our community.
For 33 years Seaview Project has been supporting some of the most vulnerable people in Hastings and St Leonards, most of whom experience problems with their accommodation. The reality of sleeping rough is not something experienced by the majority of people, and albeit for one night only, The Big Sleep will enable participants to engage with the reality of bedding down for the night with only a cardboard box and sleeping bag for warmth. Building on the success of last year’s Big Sleep (which raised over £25,000) registration is now open if you wish to join in.
The entertainment is free and open to all between 8pm and 10pm, featuring music from Bobby Fuego’s Fat Fingers of FunkBand and The Haystingers and hosted by TV and Radio Presenter Kevin Devine. Exclusively for those sleeping out there will be an unplugged gig around the brazier with King Size Slim.

The Seaview Project
Seaview is an open access wellbeing centre that helps those living on the margins of society, and the only one of its kind in Hastings and St Leonards. Most clients experience problems with their accommodation ie. live in inadequate accommodation, sofa surf and/or sleep rough on the streets. Due to reductions in government funding in recent years, Seaview relies more and more on donations.
Seaview provides affordable meals and drinks; emergency food parcels; free clothes store and household goods store; free showers, haircuts and laundry facilities; dedicated rough sleeper workers; regular access to a nurse and podiatrist; and a range of activities to help and encourage people to reach their full potential. Seaview works with almost 1,400 people a year, and in the last year alone served more than 8,600 hot, affordable meals.
For more information about Seaview, please visit The Seaview Project.
