Stade Saturdays return!

Beginning this weekend! Summer’s coming and Hastings is hotting up – it’s time for the return of Stade Saturdays! As part of the Hastings Winkle Club Jazz and Blues Festival, Stade Saturdays presents Eat Logic, The Jazz Heads, the Roger Hubbard Band, Chantelle Duncan Band and Red Butler Blues, along with a Sunday concert starting with Breakfast with the Swing Street Jazz and Swing Orchestra, followed by Hexagonal, The Big Blue, King Size Slim, Soul Town and Tony O’Malley band with special guest Liane Carroll. What a line-up. Not to be missed! 

Working in the margins between soul and rave, Eat Logic is a new British ‘future jazz’ project that combines electronic and acoustic elements with UK street idioms, jazz flavoured textures and improvisation. Their players and singers have helped to define the sound of British electronic music over the past two decades: members of some of the UK’s most groundbreaking bands join forces with vocalists who hold a firm place in the history of British acid jazz and electronic dance music.

“We’ve always been excited by the unique sounds created by some of the people we’ve worked with,” says Gordon Hulbert, the band’s founder and musical director. “Hopefully that carries through into what we’re doing, but we’re also concerned with
good composition and how we lock together as musicians. As sidemen we’ve laid it down behind artists such as Courtney Pine, John McLaughlin, Chaka Khan, Hugh Masekela, Roy Ayers and Don Blackmon.”

The band’s ‘RIYL’ list includes some long-time friends, colleagues and strangers alike: The Bays, Cinematic Orchestra, de Phazz, Portico Quartet, Labyrinth, Basement Jaxx, Imogen Heap, Weather Report, Ennio Morricone, David Arnold, Zero 7, Massive Attack, Bugge Wesseltoft, Fenomenon, The Latin Project, D*Note, The Sunburst Band and Incognito.
