Show of Hands with Steve Knightley and Phil Beer
Show of Hands coming to St Mary
A treat for all acoustic music lovers! Steve Knightley and Phil Beer of Show of Hands, widely acknowledged as the finest acoustic roots duo in England, are coming to St Mary In The Castle in early May. Promoter Bob Perry writes.
Knightley, who writes most of the duo’s inspired material, and Beer, a dazzling multi-instrumentalist, have earned a huge reputation, resulting in being voted triple winners at the BBC Folk Awards, selling out the Royal Albert Hall four times, headlining major festivals from Glastonbury to WOMAD and playing all over the world, from Europe to America, Australia to India.
Celebrating their remarkable 22-year partnership with the current Long Way Home tour, they make a triumphant return to the songs and sounds that have inspired them over the years and mix them with material from their brand new studio album, alongside their trademark anthemic, acoustic classics.
Performing as a duo once more, the original format that launched their careers, this is a rare opportunity to witness two master craftsmen at work and in no finer setting than the intimate and beautiful surroundings of St Mary in the Castle.
Show of Hands, 7 May 2016, 7.30pm. Advance booking is advised, but cannot be made at St Mary in the Castle. All auditorium seats have been sold, but (as of mid April) there were still balcony seats available (£21.50) by telephone from 01323 841414. Tickets can also be bought at Hastings TIC, 01424 451111, and at Music’s Not Dead in Bexhill, 01424 552435.
