Dance at the Albion!
On Wednesday 3 February, the Albion is going back in time to showcase music and dance from the 1920s, 30s and 40s. HOT reporter Zoya Mathison laces up her dance shoes to find out more.
As part of the Fat Tuesday previews (which have been happening every Wednesday) Dance at the Albion! invites all Swing Dancers, Lindy Hoppers, Jazz and Balboa partakers to dance in a original 1940s pub interior and (this is quite important) on wooden floor boards.
The idea is to recreate a social or tea dance that people used to go to ‘back in the day’, where romances where formed and broken all to the sounds of big bands and Jazz musicians. These were the old clubs of the time and the dances took the populace out of the horrors of war and poverty and into a rhythmical and unified motion.
Hastings and Cinque Ports Lindy Hoppers legend, Gypsy John, will be playing a guest DJ set that will bring the house down and have I mentioned the night is completely free?
Wednesday 3 February at the Albion, 33 George St, Hastings TN34 3EA Music and dancing from 8 – 11pm FREE (dressing up – optional)
