PAPERGIRL project comes to Hastings!
The Papergirl project, where original artwork is spontaneously distributed to unsuspecting members of the public, is a brilliant innovation, writes HOT’s Zelly Restorick, which has now been brought to Hastings thanks to local resident and artist, Erin Veness.
In 2014, says Erin, she donated several works to various Papergirl projects around the world. After researching the ethos and the project in details, she then decided it would be awesome if Papergirl came to her own town – and she set about organising it and making her vision real.
Papergirl Hastings has a Facebook page and a Tumblr page.
Here are the guidelines:
- all artworks are accepted, as long as they are no bigger than A4
- there is no theme
- anything goes: poetry, photography, design etc
- you can submit as much artwork as you like
- digital works are not accepted, but if you print them out, they will be!
- artists should label their artworks on reverse
- artists work will be exhibited on the 8th March as part of International Women’s Day.
“All I ask is that you maybe share this post, or maybe share the Facebook page, or maybe share the Tumblr, or maybe just say to anyone you know who does any type of artwork on paper: why don’t you send some work in?” Erin, Papergirl Hastings
Everything submitted will be exhibited.
Submissions should be sent to:
FAO: ART SCHOOL, 49-51 CAMBRIDGE ROAD, HASTINGS, EAST SUSSEX, TN34 1DT, ENGLAND
Erin’s insightful personal Blog can be read and enjoyed here.

Hello Dani, Erin doesn’t have a day planned for the delivery of the artwork, but she is definitely looking for interested volunteers – and asks that you contact her, please. And any other people interested in offering artwork or delivering! Thanks. Zelly

Sounds cool! what day is the work being given out? Would be interested in giving out art and receiving! I have a bike and a blank wall at home that needs decorating!
