Creative trio at Arts Forum
Three old friends have collaborated on a show which opens tonight, Friday 23 September, at Hastings Arts Forum.
“Though we’re all photographers, this is something different for each of us, touching on the ‘heartfelt, passionate and personal’,” says Rachel Lever, one of the trio who first met as students in 1960.
Elisabeth Lewis (known for such iconic photographs as a still-working Battersea Power Station) presents pages from her own family memoir, going back as far as the period of runaway inflation in Germany, with objects including an original 50 million mark note.
Felicia Cronin has made a major installation going to the heart of the abuse of the planet: her magnificent ‘patchwork for life’ asks, “To have or not to have?”
Rachel herself has curated a memorial exhibition for her mother Anita, who died this year, showing highly glazed prints of her colourful and quirky drawings and a richly-woven video of the same images.
The exhibition runs until Tuesday 4 October, when it will close with the first showing of Rachel’s film memoir of Anita at 6pm.
